Story

Lou-Jean (Goldie Hawn) and Clovis Poplin (William Atherton), two married petty criminals, lose their baby in Texas and decide to do whatever it takes to get her back. Lou-Jean breaks Clovis out of prison and the two kidnap his son from his foster home and take a highway patrolman hostage. When a massive manhunt begins to track them down across Texas, the couple become unlikely folk heroes and even begin to bond with the captured cop.
